Kukke Subramanya Temple

Kukke Subramanya temple  is a Hindu temple situated in the village of Subramanya in the Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada. The temple is one of the pristine pilgrimage locations in India. Here Lord Subrahmanya is worshiped as the lord of all snake. The epics relate that the divine serpent Vasuki and other serpents found refuge under Lord Subramanya when threatened by Garuda.

Subramanya used to be called as Kukke Pattana previously. History:

As per one Mythology, in the wake of executing the devil rulers, Tharaka, Shurapadmasura and their adherents in a war, Lord Shanmukha achieved Kumara parvatha with his sibling Ganesh and others. He was gotten by Indra and his adherents. Indra being exceptionally cheerful asked Lord Kumara swamy to acknowledge and marry his little girl Devasena for which the Lord promptly concurred. The perfect marriage occurred on Margashira shudha shashti at Kumara parvatha. Divine beings like Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and numerous different gods amassed for the marriage and crowning ritual service of Shanmukha for which waters of a few heavenly streams were brought. With these dilutes of Mahabhisheka tumbled to frame a waterway which was later known by the famous name Kumaradhara.
