Sulthan Bathery is also a famous town in the Wayanad District and was originally named as Ganapathyvattom. The name was changed in the 18th century, when Tipu Sultan captured the Jain Temple in the province. There are two main Jain temples located in SulthanBathery, apart from the famous ancient Ganapathi and Mariamman Temples.
