Botanical Gardens Ooty
The Botanical Garden is spread over a huge area of 55 acres. Marquis of Tweedale laid this garden in 1847 on the lower slopes of the Dodabetta Peak. The Botanical Gardens are well managed by the Horticulture Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The park is a treat for nature lovers.
The lush green lawns of the garden are ideal for a pleasure strolling for viewing large varieties of orchids, flowers and ferns. The striking attraction of this garden is some of the rare species of trees such as 20 million-year-old fossilised tree, the monkey puzzle tree, the cork tree and the paper bark tree. The Botanical Garden is not just the most favoured destinations for tourists but also for those students who specialise in plant science. The garden is divided into five sections such as nurseries, lower garden, Italian Garden and new garden. The nurseries have eight terraces and glass houses.
The best part of the Botanical Garden is its annual flower show that is organised every year in the month of May. This exclusive flower show exhibits some rare species of plants.
Ooty Lake

Ooty Lake is an artificial lake that owes its construction to the first Collector of Ooty, John Sullivan. Both the streams eventually supply water to the Bhavani river, located at a short distance opposite of the Dolphin’s Nose.
Kalhatti Waterfalls
Kalhatti Waterfalls is a famous tourist attraction near Ooty in Tamil Nadu. It is located 2000 meters above sea level and an absolute treat to the eyes. The water cascades down from a height of about 100 to 122 meters. The sound of gushing waves creates a magical result and flabbergasting sight for the spectator.
Although a bit far away from the Kalhatti Waterfalls, the slopes are covered with thick forests and plays host to rich flora and fauna species such as elephants, bear, wild buffaloes, giant squirrel, bison, sambhar deer, tigers, leopards and panthers.
