Kollam Beach is situated on the edge of renowned Asthamudilake, making it the gateway to magnificent backwaters of Kerala. Kollam is the hub of the country’s cashew trading and processing industry. It is one of the oldest ports on the Malabar Coast and was one of the ports of international spice trade. In the nearby areas there are some interesting historic remnants and a number of temples built in the traditional ornate architectural style.
