Guruvayoor Sri Krishna Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Krishna located in the town of Guruvayur in Kerala. It is one of the most vital places of worship and is often referred to as “BhulokaVaikunta” which translates to the “Holy Abode of Vishnu on Earth”. However the holy place is considered to be one of the holiest spots for Vaishnavites.
The eastern nada is the main entry to the shrine. Within the Chuttambalam is the tall 33.5 m high gold plated Dwajasthambam .There is also a 7 m high Dipastambham whose thirteen circular receptacles provide a truly gorgeous spectacle when lit. The square Sreekovil is the sacred sanctum sanctorum of the temple houses the main deity. Within the temple there are also the images of Ganapathy, Lord Ayyappa and EdathedattuKavilBhagavathy.
